LinksDAO is set to launch its own community token, LINKS, to fund golf course acquisitions alongside its existing NFTs. The golf club, which previously sold nearly 10,000 membership NFTs for $10 million in early 2022, aims to adapt to a changing market where interest in NFTs has waned. The new LINKS token is intended to enhance community involvement and is expected to be launched on the Base blockchain in the coming months. A third of the token's supply will be allocated to existing NFT holders, with additional allocations for members of other popular NFT communities. The club has plans to partially own the Hillcrest Golf Course in Kansas City, a prestigious course designed by Donald Ross. This acquisition will need approval from LinksDAO's members, as they vote on proposals related to community developments. Despite functioning more like an affinity club rather than a decentralized autonomous organization, LinksDAO sees potential in merging cryptocurrency with the golfing community.
