LayerZero's native token (ZRO) experienced a surge of 10% following the news that venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) acquired an additional $55 million in ZRO tokens, committing to a three-year lock-up period. This latest investment adds to a series of previous funding rounds in which a16z participated, contributing significantly to LayerZero Labs' growth. The interoperability protocol connects 125 blockchains and has facilitated over 145 million cross-chain messages with a total of $75 billion in value transferred. A16z's investment aims to expand LayerZero's capabilities beyond interoperability to include token issuance, data management, governance, and database improvements. ZRO advanced to $2.56 post-announcement but later stabilized around a 5% increase, outperforming the broader market.
