Sony's blockchain division has partnered with LINE, Japan's largest social media platform, to integrate four of its mini-apps onto Sony's blockchain network called Soneium. This collaboration aims to facilitate in-game rewards and purchases, enhancing user engagement. The mini-apps being adapted include Sleepagotchi, Farm Frens, Puffy Match, and Pocket Mob. Soneium, a layer-2 blockchain that operates on Ethereum, was launched in January 2025 and seeks to transition web2 users into the web3 space. With approximately 200 million active users, LINE's integration is considered a significant advancement for Soneium. Jun Watanabe, chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, expressed optimism that this partnership would drive higher adoption and engagement through the integration of successful LINE apps, illustrating a strategic move in bridging traditional user experiences into blockchain technology.
