Despite the reported shutdown of its website and Telegram channels, the darknet marketplace Huione continues to operate and grow. Following a crackdown by Telegram on thousands of associated accounts, Huione's operations are still robust, processing billions in transactions. Chainalysis highlighted that the marketplace's activity has not decreased post-shutdown and, in fact, has seen an increase. After the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) barred the platform from US banking, Huione's transaction volume reportedly remained unaffected, indicating resilience against regulatory measures. Huione has also resumed operations under its cryptocurrency exchange platform, maintaining its brand identity and active social media presence. Highlighted as a central channel for various cyber crimes, including scams and frauds, Huione represents a persistent challenge for law enforcement, which will need updated strategies to tackle such sophisticated criminal networks.
