Here’s what happened in crypto today
Today in crypto, a new bill introduced by US Representative Byron Donalds aims to codify President Trump's executive order for a US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, utilizing Bitcoin seized in criminal cases. If passed, this legislation would solidify the reserve and prevent any future administration from dismantling it. On the other hand, Democrat Representative Gerald Connolly urged the Treasury to halt the creation of a strategic crypto reserve, arguing it offers no benefits to the American people and wastes taxpayer money. Meanwhile, former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao denied accusations from a Wall Street Journal report claiming he sought a presidential pardon from Trump related to a potential operational role at Binance. Zhao emphasized that he had no discussions about a business deal with the Trump family and remarked that no felon would oppose a pardon if it were needed.
