Helium partners with AT&T to bring WiFi to thousands of US locations
Helium has partnered with AT&T to provide users automatic access to its decentralized WiFi network. The collaboration allows AT&T customers to connect to Helium's community-built network, which consists of over 93,500 hotspots in the US. Helium's mobile network division co-founder, Amir Haleem, stated that this partnership will accelerate Helium's adoption and enhance value for both users and AT&T customers, with more developments expected in the future. The integration incorporates AT&T’s Passpoint WiFi roaming service, allowing seamless connectivity to WiFi networks. Helium claims its decentralized network has over 800,000 daily users and has formed partnerships with various mobile network operators to enhance their services. This development follows Helium Mobile's introduction of a free phone plan in February, touted as the first of its kind in the US. Additionally, Helium faced legal challenges with the SEC but settled for a civil penalty earlier in April.
