Helium partners with AT&T to bring WiFi to thousands of US locations
Helium has formed a partnership with AT&T to provide users automatic access to its decentralized WiFi network. This collaboration allows AT&T customers to connect to Helium’s extensive community-built network, which currently boasts over 93,500 hotspots, primarily located in the United States. Helium Mobile's co-founder and CEO, Amir Haleem, expressed that partnering with a major industry player like AT&T will significantly accelerate Helium's adoption, creating value for both network participants and AT&T customers. This partnership integrates decentralized nodes with traditional service networks via AT&T's Passpoint WiFi roaming service, enabling seamless WiFi authentication. Helium reports over 800,000 daily active users on its network and has signed agreements with partners in Mexico while exploring opportunities with other mobile network operators. This strategic move follows Helium Mobile's earlier introduction of the first free phone plan in the U.S. in February and occurs amid ongoing regulatory scrutiny, including a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission regarding past compliance matters.
