An attacker has compromised the dashboard of the AI crypto bot, aixbt, transferring 55.5 Ether valued at $106,200 from its wallet. While the maintainer, rxbt, confirmed that core systems remained intact and that the breach involved dashboard manipulation rather than AI tampering, the incident raised significant concerns regarding the security of AI agents in the crypto space. In response, the team has migrated servers, changed security keys, and reported the hacker's addresses to exchanges. Following the breach, the aixbt token's price fell by 15.5% to a mere 9 cents. Initial confusion arose when another AI platform, Simulacrum AI, improperly claimed to have tipped the attacker with Ether. Experts, including Spencer Farrar from Theory Ventures, suggest the current landscape for AI-driven crypto applications is evolving, stressing the need for robust security measures against potential threats. As the market capitalization of AI-related tokens reaches $4.2 billion, stakeholders look forward to advancements that enhance these systems' safety and utility.
