FTX estate to start distributing more than $5B on May 30
FTX is set to commence distributing over $5 billion as part of its asset repayment plan, starting May 30. This marks the second round of disbursements for creditors who have not accessed their funds since the exchange's bankruptcy over two years ago. The FTX Recovery Trust announced that the distribution will occur within one to three business days after May 30. Although many creditors are expected to benefit, not all FTX account holders will receive reimbursements in this round. Following a prior distribution in February, where approximately $1.2 billion was repaid, stakeholders await details on the distribution schedule for subsequent creditor classes. The recovery plan aims for 98% of creditors to receive at least 118% of their initial claims. The ongoing estate proceedings come after former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried was convicted and sentenced for financial misconduct, leading to a focus on restitution for impacted users.
