Frodobots raises $6M for Solana-based robotics network
Frodobots, a robotics and crowdsourced data startup, has secured $6 million in seed funding to develop BitRobot, a Solana-based embodied AI research network. Led by Protocol VC and joined by notable investors, including Big Brain Holdings and Solana Ventures, this funding follows an earlier $2 million pre-seed round. Frodobots originally focused on building sidewalk robots to create extensive crowdsourced datasets but has since broadened its objectives. Co-founder Michael Chung Yeung Cho stated that their aim is to launch BitRobot, which will facilitate better resource allocation and data sharing among robotics researchers using a shared token system. This network aims to solve the issue of scarce robotics data and will feature subnets, including human beings and fleets of humanoid and sidewalk robots. The initiative includes a DePIN token reward system and cross-embodiment learning, whereby skills learned by one type of robot can be transferred to others. A white paper detailing BitRobot’s tokenomics is set to be released in the coming weeks.
