Ex-Celsius CEO asks to travel for a wedding after sentencing
Ex-Celsius CEO Alex Mashinsky is likely to receive permission to travel to his daughter’s wedding despite ongoing legal proceedings. On May 8, the US District Court in New York allowed his request to travel from New York to Memphis, Tennessee, between May 26 and May 29. Although his sentencing was still pending, the US government did not oppose his travel request. Judge John Koeltl is set to decide whether Mashinsky will serve prison time following a plea deal, in which he admitted to commodities fraud and manipulating the price of Celsius’ native token, CEL. Mashinsky has been out on a $40 million bond since July 2023, which requires him to seek court approval for travel beyond certain areas. The situation remains fluid, with additional information expected as the sentencing proceedings unfold.
