Changpeng Zhao, the former CEO of Binance, criticized European countries for lagging in their adoption of cryptocurrencies, highlighting that they are significantly behind the US and Asia. At the Token2049 conference in Dubai, he noted that while certain regions, like the United Arab Emirates, are fostering a pro-business environment for crypto, most of Europe is currently inactive. Zhao mentioned that Montenegro stands out as a positive exception, engaging proactively with discussions on cryptocurrency. Additionally, he pointed out the US efforts to promote a global crypto reserve strategy and expressed concern over Europe's lack of involvement in these initiatives. Zhao, who has shifted his focus towards education and other ventures after his tenure at Binance, continues to advocate for advancements in crypto technologies.
