Ethereum's Holesky testnet achieved finality nearly two weeks post the Pectra upgrade, which initially went live on February 24. A configuration bug in client software had delayed finality, which was eventually resolved, allowing Holesky to finalize during epoch 119,090 with over two-thirds of validators participating. Finality locks transactions irreversibly within approximately 13 minutes, but it remained absent due to the aforementioned software bug. Meanwhile, the Sepolia testnet, which is also running the Pectra upgrade, faced issues of empty blocks stemming from a flawed deposit contract, although these issues have been rectified. The Pectra upgrade brings significant features, including gas payments in non-ETH tokens, account abstraction, and increased staking limits. Developers are now focused on stabilizing nodes and restoring the testnet for continued Pectra testing.
