Ethereum Whale Offloads $22 Million After Holding for 9 Years
An Ethereum whale has sold holdings valued at approximately $27.6 million, potentially generating over 18,000% in profits. Blockchain data indicates that the whale's address began receiving Ethereum (ETH) in 2016 when prices were just above $8. The investor exchanged 18,437 ETH for stablecoin USDC over 24 hours on the Uniswap platform, executing transactions of more than 1,400 coins to avoid alarming the market. While the exact acquisition date of the ETH is unknown, some portions of the coin were deposited into the wallet as recently as 2022. In contrast to the Ethereum whale's selling trend, Bitcoin holders have been reportedly accumulating assets, highlighting differing market behaviors between the two leading cryptocurrencies. At the time of the sale, ETH was trading around $1,517, reflecting a more than 7% decrease within a day, underscoring the ongoing volatility in the cryptocurrency market.
