Ethereum developers are enhancing blockchain interoperability with two new token standards: ERC-7930 and ERC-7828. According to Wonderland, a development group focused on Ethereum DeFi, there currently is no standard for wallets, apps, or protocols to interpret or display blockchain information, leading to a messy and inconsistent cross-chain user experience. The proposed ERC-7930 defines a compact, machine-friendly format for interoperable addresses, while ERC-7828 builds on this by adding a human-readable layer such as 'address@chain'. This new system aims to streamline transactions by allowing users to specify the target blockchain when sending payments, thus reducing the risk of crypto losses from sending assets to incorrect blockchains. It also enables blockchain-agnostic wallet operations, easing the user experience when switching between networks.
