The Ethereum Foundation has restructured its leadership, separating the roles of its management and board of directors. The board will serve as a security council to uphold the foundation's core values and set strategic visions for Ethereum. Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz K. Stańczak have been appointed as co-executive directors to execute these visions, emphasizing censorship resistance, open-source innovation, privacy, and security. Their roles officially commenced on April 28, 2025, with Stańczak's term set for two years. The management team also includes Bastian Aue and Josh Stark, who will focus on organizational strategy and project execution, respectively. The board comprises notable members, including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and Aya Miyaguchi, who will oversee external relations. This shift in structure is part of the foundation's active role in addressing challenges within the Ethereum ecosystem, particularly amid recent criticisms regarding its engagement in decentralized finance innovation. In the upcoming months, the foundation aims to address Ethereum's scaling challenges with proposed improvements to increase gas limits.
