Neuralink, Elon Musk’s brain implant company, is calling for global participants to trial its brain chips, which enable users to control computers with their thoughts. The company is specifically looking for quadriplegic individuals as part of its Precise Robotically Implanted Brain-Computer Interface (PRIME) study, which will span around six years. Currently, three patients have received the devices, and there are indications of progress in controlling technology with thought alone. Noland Arbaugh, Neuralink's first patient, reported no negative side effects after one year and has demonstrated the chip’s capabilities in managing everyday tasks. He has expressed optimism for the technology's potential impact on others, as the company aims to expand usage beyond computer interactions into more areas, including possibly controlling wheelchairs. Arbaugh remarked on the hope and purpose that the implant has granted him, noting his daily usage and aspirations for future advancements in the technology.
