El Salvador has continued its daily Bitcoin investments, acquiring 240 BTC since December 2024, despite an agreement with the IMF that discourages further accumulation. The country holds 6,209 Bitcoin, with the IMF previously requiring the cessation of public BTC accumulation as part of a $1.4 billion loan deal. President Nayib Bukele's strategy of purchasing one Bitcoin per day remains intact, with officials claiming that El Salvador complies with IMF standards through a flexible interpretation of 'non-accumulation'. However, cryptocurrency remittances to the country have seen a significant decline, falling by 44.5% in early 2025 compared to the previous year, impacting the use of crypto in remittances, which dropped to $16 million and accounted for only 0.52% of total remittances received.
