Deadrop Game Studio Shutting Down Following Dr. Disrespect Dismissal
Midnight Society, the developer of the game Deadrop, has announced its closure following the dismissal of co-founder Dr. Disrespect, whose real name is Guy Beahm. The studio confirmed its shutdown after informing employees that it was out of funding. Brad Boice, a level designer at Midnight Society, revealed on social media that staff had received only two days' notice to close down operations. The studio had been operational for three years and had 55 developers working on Deadrop. This decision follows allegations against Beahm regarding inappropriate conversations with a minor, which ultimately led to his exit from the company. Despite previous plans to release the full game in fall 2025, the team found it challenging to proceed without Beahm, who had played a significant role in marketing. The situation has left fans and NFT buyers disheartened, as they had investments tied to the game's future. Although the ideas surrounding Deadrop are still viewed as promising, the closure has raised concerns about the future of the project and the talented team affected by the layoffs.
