Wallets holding $159 million in ETH have informally voted for Danny Ryan, a prominent Ethereum researcher, to lead the Ethereum Foundation (EF). The vote highlights ongoing leadership challenges within the Foundation as the community seeks change. An informal voting site indicates overwhelming support for Ryan, with 99.98% of the 582 votes recorded in favor. The vote, however, is not an official EF proposal. Ryan is recognized for his role in the Ethereum Merge and the launch of the Beacon Chain but stepped away from the EF in September 2024 due to health concerns. Amid ongoing calls for a leadership shift, criticism has been directed at current executive director Aya Miyaguchi, who has led the EF since 2018. Ryan recently re-emerged on social media, advocating for unity in the community, and indicated he is in discussions about a potential return to the EF, opening a dialogue with Vitalik Buterin and others about a future role.
