Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has called on Elon Musk to ban automated bots from the X social media platform, emphasizing that they contribute to issues such as spam, impersonation, and phishing in the cryptosphere. CZ stated that while using AI tools like Grok or ChatGPT to generate content is acceptable, API posting by bots should be disabled. This concern arises from the prevalence of bots that plague X users, particularly in the crypto sector, promoting scams through fake tokens and phishing links. Despite Musk's initiatives since acquiring X in 2022, including proposing small fees for new account registration, challenges persist with bots impersonating crypto influencers to commit fraud. A 2023 study revealed that coordinated bot activity has also manipulated cryptocurrency prices. The crypto community remains frustrated over insufficient measures to tackle the bot problem on the platform.
