CryptoPunks Have New Home as Nonprofit Acquires Ethereum NFT IP From Yuga Labs
The Infinite Node Foundation, a newly established nonprofit, has acquired the IP of the influential CryptoPunks NFT collection from Yuga Labs. This acquisition aims to preserve and expand the legacy of CryptoPunks, which consists of 10,000 digital art pieces first launched in 2017. The foundation's stewardship will focus on three core areas: preservation, community building, and expansion of engagement with the collection. The chair of the foundation emphasizes the need for a permanent home for CryptoPunks, which has become a defining example of digital art. Following the acquisition, plans include hosting a major exhibition of the collection, with the floor price for CryptoPunks rising significantly to over $123,000 amid an increase in Ethereum's value. This move comes after Yuga Labs acquired CryptoPunks in 2022 as part of their strategy to elevate the cultural significance of the collection.
