Coinbase CEO says unnecessary account freezes cut by 82%
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong announced that the cryptocurrency exchange has successfully reduced unnecessary account restrictions by 82%. In a June 6 post, Armstrong acknowledged that account freezes have been a longstanding issue, labeling it a top priority for the company. He urged customers experiencing frozen accounts to reach out to Coinbase Support. Many users had reported being locked out for extended periods, some for months or even years. Armstrong attributed the positive changes to advancements in Coinbase's machine learning models and infrastructure, as highlighted by Dor Levi, a product team member. These improvements enhanced the precision of the models, resulting in fewer account restrictions. However, Armstrong reiterated that restrictions mandated by court orders and sanctions will remain in place to ensure legal compliance. Despite the improvements, Levi expressed that further work is needed to meet user expectations, given his own experiences as a Coinbase user.
