Chronicle has successfully raised $12 million in seed funding, with Strobe leading the round and contributions from Brevan Howard and other investors. Founded by Niklas Kunkel, who was part of the founding team at MakerDAO, Chronicle operates as the first oracle on Ethereum. Kunkel highlighted that oracles facilitate the transmission of data to and from blockchains, allowing decentralized applications to function effectively outside isolated environments. Chronicle serves as a data infrastructure provider for tokenized assets and aims to bridge the gap between decentralized finance (DeFi) and traditional finance. Kunkel noted a significant trend among financial institutions seeking to engage with real-world assets (RWAs), indicating that Chronicle is strategically positioned to aid these entities as they explore RWAs over the next 12 to 18 months. He expressed optimism about the upcoming wave of new products in this sector.
