The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Group has announced the launch of XRP futures contracts, set to go live on May 19, 2025. Initially speculated in January 2025, the announcement was only confirmed recently. Investors will have the option to choose between micro-sized contracts of 2,500 XRP and standard contracts of 50,000 XRP, with all being cash-settled. This move marks a significant step in the growing acceptance of cryptocurrencies within institutional frameworks, as more crypto-focused financial products reach the market or seek regulatory approval in the US. Additionally, this launch follows the listing of Solana futures in March and ongoing interest in crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) from various asset managers. As cryptocurrencies gain traction in finance, the CME's introduction of XRP futures underscores the evolving landscape of digital asset investment.
