Canary Capital has filed for a U.S. spot ETF that aims to track the price of Tron’s TRX token and integrate staking capabilities. The proposed Canary Staked TRX ETF, submitted to the SEC, plans to utilize third-party providers for staking and appoint BitGo as custodian for the assets. Unlike previous efforts where issuers had to amend their applications to exclude staking features to gain SEC approval, the current SEC leadership under Chair Paul Atkins might be more accommodating toward staking in crypto ETFs. This follows a recent postponement of the SEC's decision on Grayscale’s similar staking request for Ethereum ETFs. The specific management fees and ticker for the new fund have yet to be disclosed. As the market dynamics evolve, there is cautious optimism about the integration of staking features in crypto-based ETF products, reflecting a shift in regulatory attitudes toward cryptocurrency investment vehicles.
