Bybit is launching a bounty of up to 10% of the stolen funds for white hat hackers who can successfully recover cryptocurrency taken by the Lazarus Group during a recent hack that drained over $1.4 billion from the exchange. On February 23, Bybit introduced a blacklisted wallet API, which aims to assist these hackers in recovering funds and will be regularly updated to address new threats. Bybit's CEO, Ben Zhou, emphasized the importance of collaboration within the crypto community to increase defenses against cyber threats. This bounty is part of broader efforts including cooperation with law enforcement and discussions with the Ethereum Foundation. Following the hack, there have been calls on social media for an Ethereum blockchain rollback, which Zhou mentioned should be decided by community consensus rather than individual action. Ethereum developer Tim Beiko opposed this idea, stating that a rollback could set a disruptive precedent, as the transaction in question did not outright violate protocol rules. He concluded that there are no clean methods to recover the stolen funds via a rollback.
