Paris-based Blockchain Group has acquired $68 million in Bitcoin, increasing its total holdings to 1,471 BTC, valued at over $154 million. This significant investment reflects the growing institutional interest in utilizing Bitcoin as part of corporate treasury strategies. The acquisition, which amounts to 624 Bitcoin for 60.2 million euros, aligns with similar moves made by European institutions as they seek to enhance their balance sheets with BTC. The trend has accelerated since the US approved spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in January 2024, offering regulated investment channels to traditional investors. Concurrently, notable corporate holders like Michael Saylor’s Strategy continue to lead global Bitcoin adoption. Strategy, which holds over $60.5 billion worth of Bitcoin, remains on track to surpass BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF. The increasing acceptance of Bitcoin as a corporate asset signifies a pivotal shift towards mainstream crypto adoption.
