BlackRock, the leading asset manager with around $11.6 trillion in assets, has amassed over 567,000 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $47.8 billion. This move positions BlackRock as one of the largest BTC holders globally. Their latest acquisition occurred on March 14, involving a transfer of 268 BTC from a Coinbase Prime wallet to their iShares Bitcoin ETF wallet. In addition to Bitcoin, BlackRock's crypto holdings include over 1.2 million Ether, valued at over $2.3 billion, and around 70 million in USDC stablecoin. The launch of BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF has been heralded as one of the most successful in history, significantly contributing to liquidity in the crypto market. However, crypto ETFs have faced recent outflows due to broader macroeconomic concerns, with BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin fund alone seeing $193 million in outflows during the week of March 9. Despite these challenges, BlackRock has maintained strategic investments in Bitcoin, incorporating it into their diversified model portfolios meant for asset managers seeking to attract investors without direct involvement in digital asset custody or transactions.
