Bitcoiner PlanB slams ETH: ‘Centralized & premined’ shitcoin
PlanB, the pseudonymous creator of the Bitcoin stock-to-flow model, criticized Ethereum and its co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, by reposting an earlier comment from Buterin on the S2F model. PlanB's main arguments centered on Ethereum's alleged centralization and the implications of its proof-of-stake mechanism, claiming these features detract from its value. He noted the significant disk space needed for running Ethereum full nodes, contrasting it with Bitcoin's lower requirements, which he argues promotes greater decentralization in Bitcoin. While PlanB's criticism was highlighted, Jeremiah O’Connor, from crypto cybersecurity firm Trugard, emphasized that Ethereum and Bitcoin serve different purposes. He acknowledged Ethereum's complexity but criticized PlanB's outright dismissal of ETH as a 'shitcoin'. The debate also touched on Ethereum's historical issues, such as the DAO hack and governance shifts that PlanB believes undermine its potential. Nevertheless, he suggested that Ethereum's evolving nature and differences from Bitcoin mean both play significant roles in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
