Bitcoin could hit $1M if US buys 1M BTC
A Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) executive suggested that the price of Bitcoin could reach $1 million if the United States acquires 1 million BTC. In a podcast, Zach Shapiro, head of policy at BPI, indicated that such a purchase would create a seismic shock in the market. BPI executive director Matthew Pines noted that other countries are closely observing the U.S.'s Bitcoin strategy as they develop their own plans. The concept of a 'Bitcoin superpower' aligns with Donald Trump's ambitions, where holding significant Bitcoin amounts reflects the nation's commitment to that goal. To facilitate Bitcoin acquisitions without increasing the taxpayer burden, Trump has issued an executive order directing budget-neutral acquisition strategies. Senator Cynthia Lummis has also introduced the BITCOIN Act, which aims to boost U.S. Bitcoin holdings. Pines proposed using tariff revenues as a budget-neutral method for purchasing more Bitcoin, along with other potential sources of revenue. Overall, these developments signal a strategic shift in U.S. engagement with Bitcoin, aiming for increased holdings and influence in the global cryptocurrency landscape.
