Bitcoin (BTC) Treasury News: SMLR Adds 455 BTC to Balance Sheet
Semler Scientific (SMLR) announced the acquisition of 455 bitcoin (BTC) for $50 million, funded through its ATM equity program. This marks the company's third-largest bitcoin purchase, increasing its total holdings to 4,264 BTC, acquired for a total of $390 million, now valued at over $450 million. The purchase price averaged $109,801 per bitcoin. Semler's BTC Yield, a key performance metric representing the year-to-date percentage change in the ratio of total bitcoin holdings to assumed diluted shares outstanding, has risen to 25.8% in 2025. In the ten days leading to May 22, Semler raised $114.8 million by issuing 3,003,488 shares under its $500 million ATM program. However, despite the acquisition, SMLR shares have dipped by 5.3% in premarket trading amid a significant drop in bitcoin price, hovering around $108,300. James Van Straten, a Senior Analyst at CoinDesk, highlighted the wider implications of Semler's investment in the ongoing evolution of Bitcoin's role in financial systems.
