Tigran Gambaryan, the head of financial crime compliance at Binance, has left the firm after four years. He announced his departure on LinkedIn, stating he is seeking new challenges in the public or private sector, particularly in technology compliance. His exit follows a tumultuous period, including an eight-month detention in Nigeria in 2024 due to allegations tied to his role at Binance. After securing his release and recovering from health issues resulting from his confinement, Gambaryan represented Binance at several conferences, sharing details of his ordeal. During his tenure, he built a compliance team and addressed over 57,000 law enforcement requests. His departure reflects a broader trend of executive turnover at Binance, particularly after founder Changpeng Zhao faced legal issues with U.S. authorities, leading to multiple high-profile resignations. Gambaryan emphasized the growing need for experienced operators in the compliance space and expressed his intent to continue making a significant impact in future roles.
