Binance Exec Tigran Gambaryan Leaves Firm, Months After Nigerian Hostage Crisis
Tigran Gambaryan, Binance's head of financial crime compliance, has announced his departure from the crypto exchange, effective Friday. Citing a desire for new challenges, he is seeking roles in either the public or private sector. Gambaryan previously made headlines after being detained by Nigerian law enforcement for eight months in 2024 regarding allegations linked to his work at Binance. After securing his release, he continued to represent the company at various conferences. He joined Binance in 2021, leading a team of former prosecutors and law enforcement experts to align the exchange with regulatory standards. His departure follows a series of executive exits from the company, including founder Changpeng Zhao and other high-ranking officials amid increased regulatory scrutiny. Gambaryanâs experience positions him to leverage his skills in compliance and technology as he moves on from Binance.
