Avalanche Blockchain Costs Slide 75% After December's Avalanche9000 Upgrade
Avalanche's transaction costs have plummeted by 75% on average following the December 16 upgrade, dubbed Avalanche9000. This significant reduction in usage fees has coincided with a 35% increase in transaction volume, with daily averages reaching approximately 354,691. The upgrade entailed several enhancements, notably lowering the base fee for running smart contracts on the C-Chain from 25 nAVAX to just 1 nAVAX. Moreover, it transformed the validator fee structure, replacing a hefty 2,000 AVAX requirement with a more manageable monthly subscription ranging from 1 to 10 AVAX. These adjustments aimed to make Avalanche's technology stack more affordable and accessible for projects of varying sizes. Stephen Buttolph, Chief Protocol Architect at Ava Labs, emphasized the goal of reducing costs across the Avalanche platform, fostering an environment conducive to Layer 1 protocol development.
