As crypto ETF deadlines come and go, watch July and October
Recent developments in the cryptocurrency ETF space include nearly $1 billion in net inflows for US spot bitcoin ETFs over early in the week. Upcoming launches of crypto ETFs are expected imminently, with Volatility Shares set to introduce two XRP futures ETFs offering standard and 2x daily exposure. This follows Teucrium’s XRP futures ETF, which has about $120 million in assets under management. The SEC has extended its review period for Grayscale’s proposed XRP ETF and stated it needs more time for Bitwise’s ether ETF that involves staking. Industry experts anticipate that July and October will be critical months for ETF decisions, especially concerning spot products holding assets like litecoin and dogecoin. The SEC's 240-day ruling windows will also close for various proposals in late 2023. A significant ruling expected in July will determine if crypto index ETFs can broaden their asset pools beyond BTC and ETH, highlighting opportunities for diversification in the market.
