An Undetectable VPN? Nord Unveils NordWhisper Protocol
NordVPN has introduced a new protocol called NordWhisper, designed to help users bypass sophisticated VPN blocks by disguising VPN traffic as regular web browsing. This new protocol responds to pressures from governments and network administrators attempting to restrict access to external information. Utilizing web tunnel technology, NordWhisper blends with standard internet activity, making it more challenging for advanced filtering systems to detect. While it maintains strong security measures, the tradeoff is a decrease in speed. Under NordWhisper, download speeds were reported at 423 Mb/s, slower than the 509 Mb/s achievable with NordVPN's standard protocol. Although the speed reduction may affect heavy data transfers, average uses like streaming work adequately. The rollout of NordWhisper began on Windows, Android, and Linux, with future support planned for other platforms. NordVPN emphasized ongoing improvements to adapt to evolving network filtering technologies while ensuring legal compliance in its usage.
