Amazon has reached a significant milestone in its Project Kuiper initiative by successfully deploying its first operational satellites, marking the start of its competition with SpaceX's Starlink for low-Earth orbit broadband. The launch was executed by United Launch Alliance (ULA) using an Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This operation is part of a broader agreement where ULA is set to facilitate the deployment of a total of 1,618 satellites by mid-2026, utilizing eight Atlas V and 38 Vulcan rockets. Amazon’s endeavor aims to enhance global broadband access, with ULA expressing optimism about their partnership and future launch capacity. With this move, Amazon, which is led by Jeff Bezos, joins the ranks of competitors like SpaceX and Boeing in the rapidly evolving commercial space sector.
