Amazon has announced a significant investment exceeding $13 billion to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure in Australia by 2029. This investment is the largest technology investment in Australia from a global company to date and will focus on expanding Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasized that this investment presents a major opportunity for Australia, promising economic growth and skilled job creation within the nation. Furthermore, part of the funding will support the construction of three renewable solar farms in Victoria and Queensland, increasing the number of Amazon's renewable projects in Australia to eleven. These new solar farms are projected to generate around 1.4 million megawatt hours of clean energy annually, enough to power approximately 290,000 homes. This initiative aligns with Australia's goal of boosting AI capabilities and could contribute approximately $400 billion to the country's GDP by 2030 through advancements in AI and automation.
